About Us
Mission
Gill health is a major issue across the aquaculture industry, and could have an adverse effect on the industry sustainability. Focused research questions and cross-industry information sharing is required to overcome these challenges.
The Gill Health Initiative (GHI) was formed, in a bid to bring together industry and researchers, with the following goals:
Focus on key research areas that will inform best practice management of gill disease
Focus on sharing of field-based farm management practices for more complex gill diseases
Promotion of exchange between researchers and industry for faster information sharing
Streamline research efforts across Norway, Scotland, Ireland and Australia
Steering Committee
The GHI steering committee is comprised of at least one research and one industry representative from Norway, Scotland, Ireland and Australia. Meetings of the GHI Steering committee are held to plan proceedings for the annual GHI meeting. Having representation from each country provides the core steering committee an international perspective of the challenges. We welcome the newest members of the GHI steering committee from Chile!
